The Skunk (Skunk)

I hunt ze bear I hunt ze wolf
Sometimes I hunt ze rat
Last week I took me down my axe
To hunt the skunk polecat
My friend Jacques say he very good
Fur same time good to eat
I tell my wife I get fur coat
And same time get some meat
Oh Lordy same time get some meat

I walk two three four mile
When I feel some awful smell
I think that skunk she up and die
And the fur coat gone to hell
By and by I see that skunk up
Close by one big tree
I sneak up very close behind
And think she no see me
Oh Lordy she no see me

I sneak up very close behind
And lift my axe up high
When up kerplunk that damn damn skunk
Throw something in my eye
Scarebleu I think I'm blind
Jesus Christ I no can see
I run around and around and around
And bump in damned old tree
Oh Lordy bump in damned old tree

By and by I drop my axe
And light out for the shack
I think million thousand skunks
They climb upon my back
My wife she meet me at the door
She sic on me the dog
She say you no sleep here tonite
You go sleep with the hog
Oh Lordy go sleep with the hog

I went down to the old hog pen
The dogs barking up a fit
The hogs came over to take a smell
Their interest at the quick
They hurried back to the other side
They wanted none of it
If the skunk's breath it smells so bad
Lord God what if he spit
Oh Lordy God what if he spit
